As we gather for the milestone 10 th Edition of SASH 2024 Conference, it's essential to reflect on how we deliver healthcare today and how we should do tomorrow. There remains a need to re-imagine care. The challenges in this direction are multifaceted, demand innovative solutions as also a steadfast commitment to ensure highly responsive healthcare systems for tomorrow.
Themed “Re-imagining Care: New Paradigms, Practices and Perspectives,” SASH 2024 looks forward to embarking on a collective journey across the healthcare landscape in our country to discuss, deliberate and define the developing contours of our healthcare delivery systems. We will look at all that is happening new – paradigms, practices and perspectives to give us the confidence as healthcare providers to foster an environment of an inclusive healthcare system which provides excellence, equity and efficiency in care to each and every citizen regardless of his or her socio-economic status or geographical location.
While there may be a huge challenge to deliver quality healthcare amidst disparities ranging from state-of-the-art medical facilities in urban centers to resource-constrained infrastructure in rural areas, there is a lot happening in the country to propel it forward in its endeavors to provide Universal Health Coverage. Ayushman Bharat -Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) launched on 23rd September 2018 has been a major single step towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC)
India has now emerged as an important hub for healthcare innovations with a burgeoning ecosystem of startups, research institutions and public-private partnerships driving progress in areas such as telemedicine, digital health and precision medicine. Harnessing these innovations and scaling up successful models are critical steps towards building a safe and sustainable healthcare infrastructure that meets the needs of India's vast and diverse population. We also need to take steps to reduce our carbon footprint, mitigate the impact of climate change, optimize resource utilization and promote circular economies where hospitals and healthcare organizations create healthier and more sustainable eco-systems for the future.
Lest we forget, at the global level, the COVID-19 pandemic served as a catalyst for change, accelerating the adoption of telehealth, remote monitoring, and data driven decision-making. As we chart a course forward, it's imperative to leverage these technological advancements to enhance healthcare access, improve patient outcomes, and build resilience against future crises.
These three days of insightful discussions, meaningful knowledge sharing, and useful collaborations should strengthen our resolve to reimagine care for a healthier tomorrow.
